Dear Members & Guests of Canaan Baptist Church (CBC 2064),

Given the intensified awareness and concerns regarding the contagious spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as the ongoing seasonal flu virus and common cold, we again wish to assure you that public health and safety concerns are our highest priority here at CBC 2064.

As the health of our nation continues to evolve with updates regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to again share a few measures regarding future worship services and ministry variables here at CBC 2064:
  • In compliance with Governor Ralph Northam’s statewide executive order, we will reevaluate where we are as this pandemic run its course and make discerning determinations regarding “in person” corporate worship services.
  • Until further notice all worship services “inside” Canaan Baptist Church will be in a state of suspension. We will be conducting worship services by virtual means as well as in the parking lot of the property.
  • Though we cannot worship together at the church, we can still worship together in our homes via live-stream. (e.g. Zoom Live and/or Facebook Live) We would certainly like to take this opportunity to thank all of our members and friends of CBC 2064 for joining us each Sunday morning during our live-stream worship experience! It has been truly humbling to learn how many people have been encouraged and blessed throughout our community and across the country through our digital Christian witness. We pray that you will continue to join us each week on the stream at 10:00 AM (EST) and that you will also continue to invite family and friends to the experience!

At the conclusion of the sermon each week, an Invitation to Christian Discipleship will be offered followed by an opportunity for members and guests to worship through giving. (During the offering, electronic giving is encouraged and appreciated through our EGiving Church App. Please note that electronic giving is now the easiest and safest way to send (present) your gifts to CBC 2064. Additionally Tithes & Offerings can be mailed to the Church to:

It’s so very important that we remain CONNECTED during this season! Please ensure that you have someone from the CBC Family with whom you can call to talk to and pray with. We encourage all of our members to also join us on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM for our “Midweek (Virtual) Bible Study Sessions.” To participate in the “CBC 2064 Sunday Worship Experience”, dial into Zoom Live or log onto Canaan’s Facebook page. Midweek (Virtual) Bible Study will be live-streamed via Zoom only.

In conclusion, it’s immensely imperative that we remain INFORMED and INSPIRED during this season. There is a tremendous volume of misinformation swirling about regarding COVID-19 and it is extremely important that we’re absorbing accurate data so that we can govern ourselves accordingly. For accurate information regarding COVID-19, please research the creditable organizations. Click on the following links:
  • Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • World Health Organization (WHO)

We all pray and believe that our God will sustain us during this season as He has done in all previous seasons. We continue to stand firmly on the divine assurances of 2 Chronicles 7:14: “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Remain prayerful, Be practical, and most of all…Be Encouraged!

In Christ with Love,

Rev. Vernon W. Hairston, Sr.
Senior Pastor
